Consultant - Applications (Guernsey Branch)

As a consultant within the Applications practice, applicants will be an integral member of a dynamic team responsible for the high-quality delivery of solutions and products to both new and existing customers. The role will involve projects that require the design, development and deployment of custom data, application and integration solutions in concurrence with testing, analysis, and project management.
Identification of new business opportunities and further enrichment of the service experience for all customers is required. There would be an expectation to work independently as well as with peers within the local team and across the entire BDO Group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work within a team of developers and engineers to design, build, test and deliver client solutions.
  • Support existing client solutions and recommend and help drive improvements.
  • Create technical documentation for reference, support and knowledge transfer.
  • Guide and support junior team members, as well as mentor and train others in own area of expertise.
  • Lead projects within own area of expertise.
  • Work with project stakeholders to deliver excellent results.
  • Undertake other duties and projects as and when required. 

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

  • 3-5 years’ experience in software development, professional services, or a similar role.
  • Developing and presenting solution proposals to clients. 
  • Proven experience in various programming languages, and frameworks including Net, MVC, C#, Java, SQL.     
  • Knowledge and experience of modern cloud platforms, such as Azure and/or AWS.
  • Up to date and relevant certifications including Microsoft Azure Developer Associate.
  • Prior experience in a client-facing technical consultancy role.
  • Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Must be able to articulate features, benefits and process of adopting cloud technologies.
  • Proven experience in a commercial software development or software engineering role.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills especially when explaining technical solutions in simple terms.
  • Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort with both large and small audiences. 
  • Problem-solving mentality leveraging internal and/or external resources. 
  • Highly organised. Able to prioritise a variety of critical short, medium- and long-term tasks for multiple activities. 
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Organised, detail-orientated, accurate and responsive.
  • Strong analysis as well as task and time management skills.
