Dan Prince
Dan Prince, Senior Lecturer in Security and Protection Science at Lancaster University. Dan specialises in Cyber Risk Management in complex socio-technical systems. He leads the PETRAS HIPSTER project, exploring ways to bring good cyber risk assessments to SME software development in Health IoT.
Caroline Laurenson
Caroline Laurenson, Managing Director of TL Tech Smart Home Solutions. TL Tech specialise in supporting people to maintain their independence in their own homes and are passionate about breaking down barriers to help people access digital solutions. In 2020, TL Tech pivoted its business to focus on supporting customers remotely in new innovative ways. In November 2020, Caroline and her team launched Kindspace, a voice application for Amazon Alexa that supports wellbeing, empowers self-care, helps to alleviate loneliness and supports mental health.
Darren Crombie
Darren Crombie is passionate about social good, standing up, and standing out. Darren leads Upstream Health and Bridgit Care supporting the 1 billion people around the world that make the biggest difference to our lives and the health system; family carers.
Bridgit Care is a Social Enterprise that have been supported by Innovate UK, NHS England and SBRI funding over the last year to develop their family carer support platform and network. Bridgit care have developed several solutions to support carers including a digital online support tool, carers app, carer charity store, and technology-enabled care to help carers remotely support their loved ones.
Bridgit also developed a new form of Social Care IoT solution called the home hub. This device provides a simple interface for elderly users, and captures a number of key health and environment readings that are sent to Azure for AI processing before triggering alerts and proposed actions to family members. Darren has lots of lessons to share on how to (and not to!) develop secure IoT solutions.
