So you think you want a data warehouse? Whether you’ve got 1 data source or 20, the reasons for creating a data warehouse are many and well-known enabling a wide range of operational and strategic benefits. But where do you start?

Join Marc from Cortex for a live primer on how to get going on the journey. He’ll talk through the core principles of data warehousing whilst giving a live demo of Bragi, their bespoke warehouse automation tool.

From a standing start, you'll ‘ETL and more’ - acquire data from multiple sources, load, archive and transform it, stand up a data model that can be used immediately for generating real insights, and schedule it to run

You’ll learn about the importance of backwards and forwards data traceability and how Bragi shows you the full lineage of every piece of data in your data warehouse, highlighting dependencies in your models and how this can be used to respond to requirements such as data extracts, audits and even GDPR.

By the end of the session, you’ll have the info you need to start getting more from your data.

Marc is living proof that delivering IT solutions should be fun. With no shortage of inappropriate jokes and a penchant for punishing people who leave their computers unattended, Marc's no holds barred approach means things get done; and they get done right.

(Sometimes even first time.)

With 15+ years' experience spanning London and Guernsey, Marc never shies away from a challenge.

In fact, if you need something doing, tell him it's impossible and watch him prove you wrong.

In line with the recent Covid recommendations from the States of Guernsey,

  • Please don't attend this event if you or anyone in your household is feeling unwell, or has any covid symptoms.
  • Take a Lateral Flow Test on the day of the event and only attend if you have a negative result.
  • Wear a mask - This is not mandatory but is highly recommended.
  • Sanitise your hands regularly, there are many hand sanitiser points around the Digital Greenhouse space for visitors to use.
