Amanda Eulenkamp is the business editor at the Guernsey Press. Five years ago, she was running a multi-location travel agency business with her now ex-husband. Life changed unexpectedly in a number of ways in 2017, leading to a new career at the Guernsey Press in August 2018.
Having always enjoyed writing, Amanda began a part-time role at the newspaper, which soon became full-time. Over the next four years, her career path developed, to her current position.
As well as being the business editor at the Guernsey Press, she is the editor of a pan-island business magazine, Business Brief, and the editor of Aurigny’s in-flight magazine, En Voyage.
In her mid-50s at the time of starting at the Press, Amanda will talk about transferrable skills; the need to be flexible and having to start again in a new industry. Overcoming challenges, adapting to change, and learning new skills are all things she has had to do in the last few years.
‘At first, I felt like I was about to walk off the edge of a cliff, but the fall wasn’t as bad as I’d envisaged. I realised I could survive. At my interview at the Press, I said that I didn’t just want a job, I wanted a career.’
