Claude Code: a guide to building software with AI

Local developer Damien Guard is hosting a free, open-to-all lunchtime session focused on getting the most out of Claude Code.

Date & Time

30 Apr 13:00 - 14:00

Location

Digital Greenhouse

Whether you’re already using AI assistants or just curious about how to start, this session explores how to push beyond basic chat prompts. Damien will demonstrate three levels of extending AI coding workflows:

  • Simple Skills: Using markdown-based instructions
  • Purpose-Built Tools: Tailoring AI actions to your specific needs
  • MCP Servers: Integrating full Model Context Protocol servers with live examples and real code

What to Expect

The session dives into how to truly hone your workflow, including a look at feedback loops, identifying when you need to stay "in the loop" for subjective decisions (like look and feel) versus when to give the AI measurement tools so it can work autonomously.

Who Should Attend?

This talk is aimed at developers who might already be using some AI tools, but no prior knowledge is required. The aim is to provide attendees with the knowledge and inspiration to get up and running with these advanced AI techniques.
