Guernsey Venture Challenge 2024 Shortlist Announced
Eight local tech ventures have been shortlisted for the 2024 Guernsey Venture Challenge!
This is the third year that we have run the challenge in partnership with Blenheim Chalcot, with a new cohort of focused founders looking to scale and develop their tech-focused ventures.
Eight local tech ventures have been shortlisted for the 2024 Guernsey Venture Challenge, and will now undertake an intensive 6-week accelerator programme with venture builders Blenheim Chalcot, in preparation to pitch for £70k of early-stage funding at the Pitch Night Final in September. Each business has been matched with an expert venture-building mentor and will undertake masterclasses to support them before their final presentations.
The Challenge ends with a Pitch Night Final where you can see the businesses compete for one of three prizes - £40k, £20k and £10k on the 19th of September. The three winners will then be awarded their prizes at the Véyaon Awards ceremony on the 21st of November!
Meet the businesses!

Raglan Education Limited
Founded by Phil NeildSix months ago, I cut a frustrated figure. My son was too interested in his phone which meant he was forever forgetting to do things, 'Just one more minute Dad I promise' So then it hit me, what if I could design an app that reminded him of the things that he needed to do automatically? At that moment, Surei - Simply Organised was born! My wife, a teacher of students with additional needs for nearly thirty years then suggested additional functions that would benefit a wider range of students. It is available for two parents and up to three child accounts which are all seamlessly linked together.
So what does it do?
- Automated reminders are sent directly to your child’s phone at a time of your choosing with either text and/or voice notes.
- Reminders can be set to appear in term time, during the holidays or both.
- Set daily tasks and completion times with notifications from your child once completed.
- Input your child’s daily timetable and select when you wish your child to see this every morning.
- Set tasks with a reward of your choice - with photo evidence required for the parent to approve.
- Allow your child to notify you of any achievements or books that they have read - again photo evidence is needed for the parent to approve.
- Set countdowns to major events such as birthdays or the end of the term
- Enter tests and assignment deadlines. - All activities can be synched with the child’s personal calendar.
- Set up friendly competitions between siblings or a child and a parent with a series of activities which score differing points. The winner achieves a target score or the highest scorer in the specified time.
- Available in seven languages.
- Ideal for parents who are separated.
- All activities can be input by either the child or the parent helping the drive for increased personal independence.
We aim to provide the app for FREE to the Learning Support Departments of any school that wishes to use the app for their students, any charitable organisation in addition to any Guernsey resident. A new app using similar technology to remind aged parents of key events (including when to take medicines) is in production with a launch date planned for September.

Trainerfy Limited
Founded by Viviane Kamworth & Niall KamworthTrainerfy is a personal training business connecting PTs and clients together to achieve their fitness goals. We currently offer distinct personal training services for individuals, small groups and corporates through our qualified PT of over 12 years, Niall Kamworth. Based on his personal experience as a PT, Niall found there was minimal assistance offered to PTs once they qualify. Therefore, he identified a gap in the market for a SaaS system focused on growing a PT's self-employed business by focusing on their development, depending on where a PT is in their lifecycle.
The platform will create a community to share knowledge and help grow a PT’s business by “matching” them to prospective customers through extensive marketing, enhancing their customer management solutions and improving efficiency. In return, a client can find a PT best suited to them and be incentivised to continue focusing on their health through our system.
Kloakify
Founded by Jack QuickIn 2021 my passport scan - and other information - was hacked from my employer’s servers and sold on the Dark Web. They’d stored everyone’s ID, as well as bank details, and even the physical access codes to their building on their servers without even basic password protection.
”Luckily" I’d replaced my passport a few months earlier, after accidentally washing it with my jeans. (Joys of having ADHD!) Thousands weren’t so lucky. People didn't get paid. People's credit ratings were damaged. One even lost out on buying a house as they were in the process of exchanging. And the company is being sued in a class action and has suffered huge reputational damage.
The next job I took was for a major CyberSecurity company and I was stunned when the HR department asked me to email my passport. Did they not know how insecure email is? If the HR department at one of the world’s leading CyberSec companies were this naive, who else was? I’ve been in tech my whole life (for everyone from tech startups to Waitrose and the NHS), first as a developer, marketer and designer, then as project manager and CTO - so I wanted to solve this problem. Kloakify helps people to send and receive sensitive documents like passport scans securely and easily, allowing them to control how the file is stored and used. Identity theft is a huge problem worldwide. 1/3 of Americans have been victims, while in the UK last year 69,000 were affected and it’s estimated to have cost the economy £27bn. Yet employers, landlords, and even AirBnBs routinely ask people to email scans of passports, driving licenses, bank statements and other sensitive documents that can be used to steal someone’s identity.
Email isn’t secure and often the scans are just left in their inbox indefinitely, or copied to other computer systems which may or may not be hackable. Many people choose poor passwords or reuse their email passwords, so if another website or social network gets hacked, so does your passport. It’s ridiculous. But it’s also understandable as there’s no well-known, easy-to-use way to share sensitive documents securely. We believe Kloakify can be the WeTransfer of sending sensitive documents. The market is anyone who’s ever rented an apartment, got a job, taken out an investment, or gone on holiday. Eg. Everyone in the developed world. Of course, we know it’s not sensible to target everyone when we launch, so we’re currently evaluating which niches are most receptive.
You can use Kloakify as a security-conscious person (and we’ll use marketing to help you become security-conscious!!) by buying credits on a pay-as-you-go basis. Or we offer a subscription for companies who regularly need to receive sensitive documents, such as HR departments, recruiters, letting agents, wealth managers, tourism, and law firms. Kloakify hides your ID from the bad guys.
