My time in the Digital Greenhouse as a Digital Intern

We hear from Aimee Strobl about her experience working with the Digital Greenhouse for the summer!

Over the summer I was lucky enough to have been given the opportunity of working at Digital Greenhouse as part of the Discover Digital Internship Programme 2024.

This 4-week internship has given me great insight into what it is like working in the creative sector in a professional, welcoming office environment, helping me ensure that this is the career path I want to take before beginning a digital media course at University.

This internship has allowed me to gain hands-on experience getting involved in real projects for the company. During my time, I actively worked on multiple different creative projects, particularly in preparation for the Véyaon Awards including designing a ticket poster, creating the award badges, designing team polo shirts and making the logo wall. Additionally, I’ve also been involved in creating a variety of social media content like editing Instagram reels and trailers on Premiere Pro for the events and programmes held by Digital Greenhouse.

My day would vary depending on the project I’ve been set, sometimes I’ll be on Adobe Illustrator designing content or products for the company or I could be editing videos on Premiere Pro making trailers and reels for their social media. My favourite projects I’ve done were editing trailers for upcoming events as I got to learn about text animation in After Effects and experiment with different edits and animation. This variety of tasks kept me motivated and really helped widen my skills and experiences highlighting the vast opportunities the creative sector has to offer.

Reflecting on my internship, I had so much fun working here, the team was very welcoming and I enjoyed how I had the freedom to be creative and experiment with new ideas. Furthermore, this Digital Internship was such a great opportunity as I not only got to expand my skills using the Adobe software suite but also gain practical knowledge working on real projects within the company- which school cannot offer. This valuable hands-on experience has equipped me with the experience and has inspired me to kick-start my career journey within the creative industry. I’ll definitely be utilising everything I learned during my time at Digital Greenhouse as I begin my degree in Digital Media at University in September.
