National Coding Week

Take a look at the jam-packed schedule of events at the Digital Greenhouse for Nation Coding Week: 16th - 21st September 2019

The aim of National Coding Week is to give everyone the awareness and opportunity to learn some digital skills.

Last year’s National Coding Week saw the Digital Greenhouse hold 12 events with over 200 people in attendance and partnering with 6 organisations to deliver a positive digital innovation schedule. This year the series of events across the week of Monday 16th September till Saturday 21st September aims to inspire people to learn coding and other digital skills with varying levels of technical application to support the growing digital sector in Guernsey.

There is something for everyone in this year's line-up, from introductions to technology with a parent and child tech session, iDEA workshop and senior cyber citizens, to specifics like a Digital Marketing Meet-up about how to start a podcast and the third Barclays AI Frenzy event. Not forgetting Future Rewired, a new conference being held to promote networking, skill sharing and the showcasing of innovation in Guernsey.  AND it's all free!  Book now to avoid disappointment.

JT Generations Code Together Session

JT recognise that today’s young students are tomorrow’s digital leaders. In school they learn the skills needed to advance technologically, creatively, and socially, for them it’s second nature having grown up with the internet, smart phones and coding classes. However, many adults have not had the same opportunities and can feel a little left behind.
They would like to help unravel some of the mystery of coding and give adults the opportunity to learn some digital skills in a friendly jargon free environment, together with their very own future digital leader.
This year, during the JT sponsored National Coding Week, JT will host 2 free events designed for pairs, adult and child (8 – 13yrs), called, ‘Generations Code Together’ which will provide an insight into coding and gaming, giving parents, grandparents, god parents the opportunity to team up with their child to build a programme, together. Each generation sharing their different skill sets.
Important Info
  *   Open to children 8 – 13years
  *   Each Child/Adult Pair needs to bring an ipad and a mobile phone (apple or android)

We’ll discuss ways to develop robust systems to educate users into maintaining a higher security stance, yet making these systems simple to use and understand so everyone can easily  and securely stay on the same cyber security journey.
