Returning for its sixth year, the Discover Digital Summer Internship Programme is still going strong

The Discover Digital Summer Internship returns for its sixth year in 2022, with an exciting prospect of local digital talent.  The Digital Greenhouse is delighted to be working once again with some of the Island’s leading digital companies as part of it’s skills partnership, to offer this opportunity for local students wanting to develop a career in the digital sector.

The six-week paid summer internship has been designed specifically for Guernsey’s post-16 students who are passionate about the digital world and are seeking to work on projects for local employers to develop their digital career pathways.

Running from 11th July until 19th August 2022, participating companies will employ the digital interns for six weeks to work on team projects.  The Digital Greenhouse has secured high-quality placements with C5 Alliance, EY, PwC, Cortex, Resolution IT and Deloitte with more to be announced.  The Digital Greenhouse team will also be working with the students to support their future career planning.  The programme will finish with a presentation evening where the interns will showcase the projects that they have worked on over the previous weeks.

Ben Wratten, Programme and Engagement Manager of the Digital Greenhouse commented, “Working in partnership with local businesses to provide young people with an insight into career routes in Guernsey is hugely valuable and has had such a positive impact for those who have taken part over the past 6 years. This truly is a fantastic opportunity for students and graduates to experience cutting edge digital projects as well as showcasing both employment opportunities and the range of  innovative companies we have operating here in the Island.”

Matt Thornton, Co-Founder of Cortex said, “We’re delighted to be involved in the Digital Internship Programme once again. It’s a great way to be able to meet the future stars of our industry and give them an insight into what it’s like to work in. Over the internship, we teach them key skills to help them start their career and we always learn something ourselves!”

John Clacy, Head of UK Financial Services Portfolio Audit, Deloitte said, “We’re looking forward to embarking on our first year working with the Digital Greenhouse and its Discover Digital Internship Programme. As Guernsey continues to grow its digital offering, we’re delighted to provide students with the opportunity to learn and develop at Deloitte. Digital skills play such a crucial part in our work every day. This scheme will challenge students’ critical thinking, expand their digital knowledge and help them get started in the world of work, all whilst supporting their long-term career ambitions.”
