Global Entrepreneurship Week 2023 returns for investment tips, data protection, celebrations and more

After a week of founder-focused events, Global Entrepreneurship Week 2023 has come to a close.

In the sixth year that we have organised and run a founder-focused schedule, we saw entrepreneurs from all walks of life join us to learn, share and collaborate on new ideas.

Thank you to JT Global for sponsoring Global Entrepreneurship Week 2023!

Kicking off the event week with a bang, we were joined by Marc Cohen, Sole Partner at Unbundled VC, who shared all that needed to be known about gaining investment for your venture. Compéred by Lucy Ann Kirby, Director of Digital Greenhouse, they explored key thoughts and considerations for entrepreneurs seeking investment to fuel their ventures. Through their discussion, we explored where to start when looking for investment, delved into how to get your business noticed and what to do if investors pass on your business.

At Tuesday lunchtime we were joined by the Office of Data Protection Authority to discuss the data protection essentials for startups, how startups could benefit from looking after their customer's data properly and much more.

On Wednesday, we enjoyed an interactive round table discussion led by Matthew Leach, News Editor at the Bailiwick Express. Our industry experts this year were Lucy Ann Kirby, Director of the Digital Greenhouse, Nichole Culverwell, Director of Black Vanilla and Wayne Atkinson, Partner, Collas Crill. To begin we discussed the outcomes of this autumn's entrepreneurial landscape survey, which showed a dramatic uptake in the use of AI in Guernsey SMEs, operational hurdles and more. Despite the startup challenges discussed, the survey also revealed that 100% of the founders see growth for their business going forward. To round off the event we delved into niche areas of our panellist's expertise, such as handling finance, business support programmes, marketing and contracting.
