11 New Businesses Launch Through the Second Startup Academy

The second cohort of our Startup Academy concluded with a highly anticipated Presentation Evening

The Guernsey business community gathered at the Digital Greenhouse for the 2024 Startup Academy Graduation! After an intensive 10-week accelerator, the newest generation of Guernsey entrepreneurs presented their businesses, capping off their journey in the programme.

With a collection of 11 businesses, spanning a wide range of areas, from MediaTech, HealthTech, FinTech, Data and more, the audience heard of how they are all looking to rapidly scale and enable innovation within their sectors. The 2024 Startup Academy has been an intensive accelerator programme, packed with mentoring, workshops and tools. It offers an unparalleled opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs to develop their products, refine their business models, and accelerate their path to market.

Warren Mauger, Startup Academy participant and Founder of The Quarry (formerly known as News Oasis) commented, "It was very interesting to see everyone’s presentations and where they have emerged as part of this journey.

The process of being in the Startup Academy has been very positive. The ten-week programme provides a focus for developing your business idea, underpinned by expert support and insights that challenge views and have helped everyone on the programme rethink their business plans and emerge stronger as we come out the other side. The group as a whole has been diverse and we have all learned something from each other."

Led by Blenheim Chalcot's renowned Red Team, this opportunity has been powered by the SMART Guernsey Economic Development programme. All businesses are leveraging tech to grow, showing exciting potential future growth within their sectors on the island.

They have been learning about mapping opportunities for innovation, how to make informed decisions and avoid wasting resources in their pursuit of success, how early unit economics affect different business models, how to build and present a business case to investors and more.

Participating in the Guernsey Startup Academy was a game-changer for my business. It helped me understand the real value we offer our customers by pinpointing and solving key problems. The expert guidance and structured approach were crucial in fine-tuning our growth and innovation strategies. On top of that, meeting such talented new friends was fantastic. We supported each other and built lasting connections that will help us all on our entrepreneurial journeys.

I’m really grateful to the Digital Greenhouse and the Red Team" commented fellow Startup Academy participant, Juliet Little Founder of, Little & Little.

Programme and Engagement Manager of the Digital Greenhouse, Ben Wratten said "We are pleased to see how far the Startup Academy cohort has developed over the past 10 weeks, as they now graduate onto other Digital Greenhouse programmes we are looking to continue to support them on their entrepreneurial journeys.”
