Digital Greenhouse’s ‘Guernsey Venture Challenge’ seeks out local techpreneurs

The Digital Greenhouse is running the Guernsey Venture Challenge for its second year.

The Guernsey Venture Challenge (GVC) aims to accelerate the development of Guernsey tech businesses, matching expert mentorship and the opportunity to win prize money to help with important early-stage funding.

Launched in 2022, the first GVC saw over 55 local businesses applying, with those shortlisted gaining a place on the summer business accelerator. Final pitch winners NionNet, Easeedo and Iso Pass went on to gain funding and continued support from expert venture builders Bleinheim Chalcot and the Digital Greenhouse facilities to grow their businesses.

Applications are now open and close for shortlisting on the 9th of July. The successful businesses will be paired with a mentor from expert venture builders Blenheim Chalcot.

They will then receive an intensive 6-week programme of support during the summer to prepare for their final pitch to the judges in September. The winners will also receive tickets to attend and be awarded their prize at The Véyaon Awards in November.

Digital Greenhouse Director, Lucy Kirby said: “The Venture Challenge provides a launchpad for Guernsey’s growing number of tech entrepreneurs. Working with a wide range of businesses, we know that access to experts and early-stage funding can make a significant difference to the likelihood of success for a venture, this programme helps address these challenges. We are seeing a significant number of innovative new tech products and services launch and it is a pleasure to support their growth.”

This year the venture challenge brings a prize pot of £70,000 of funding to support local startup tech businesses, including a £40,000 first place prize, £20,000 second place prize and a £10,000 third place prize.

Businesses can apply directly on the Digital Greenhouse website and shortlisting will take place at the start of July.
